VW New Beetle convertible

The car is for sale. I bought it for my late wife. She has passed away. I have no use for the vehicle and no desire to keep it. It's in good condition and as far as I know everything works. Does need inner door panels.

Volkswagen New Beetle

The car is very comfortable to drive. You do not have to take it to the repair shop every now and then it is so dependable. Fuel consumption is great and pocket friendly. This will be an engineering milestone in the automobile industry.

Decent car overall but has some annoying features.

Decent car, overall. Does not lug up hills, even with the smaller engine. Not a large car but will transport it's fair share. Feels very open with the large windows and sunroof. Basic interior that I find comfortable. Biggest complaints about this car are interior related. The doors auto lock once you start driving, which is fine, except that they do not unlock automatically. This leads to many frustrating times. The center console with cup holders is almost pointless as it will not hold anything much larger than a soda can. The cup holders are placed below the dash which makes accessing them awkward. The sun visors are almost pointless. The soft coating that VW used on the dash and door handles has not aged well at all. It scratches extremely easy and does not clean well. The textured portion of the dash is impossible to clean well. The silver on the steering wheel spokes is rubbing off and due to cheap materials. The tan interior seems made to attract any dirt or mar possible. Magic eraser cleans it easy enough though. All of the newer beetles suffer from terrible door upholstery that lifts from the arm rests. Mine is no exception. Interior build is cheap. Center arm rest breaks easy. The release button on the emergency brake broke and popped out. My gauges have gone out and the replacement part is no longer available and finding a used one is turning out to be almost impossible as the part number has to be the exact same one and it can't be swapped for another Beetle gauge set. An easy work around is a heads up display that plugs into the OBD port. Other than my complaints about the interior, this is not a bad car, at all.

I love my Beetle

She's 18 years old and has <26,000 miles. I wish I had the opportunity to take her for long drives on the highway more often, but she's basically a city car. She has a stick shift, my preferred way to drive. I like the road feel and the way the car handles. I recently had the car detailed and it was done really well; all the scratches were buffed away and she looks like new.

The Little Bug that Can

Bought my beetle in 2001. It's perfect for an owner with an 86-pound dog. We go everywhere from the town green to out of state in comfort and style. Great for hanging a Christmas wreath on its nose (hood) and flying a s,all American flag in its flower holder with the air-conditioner cranking. Still get positive comments on its great lime green color. It's original paint job has withstood 17 New England winters. Wouldn't sell it or trade it for any SUV!

2001 VW New Beetle Diesel

I like my car. It is good to drive around. Easy to find parking. It can hold and haul an amazing amount of stuff. The back seat is too small for most adults as their heads would hit the back window. The parts can be extremely expensive and there are alot of plastic parts that just don't hold up. The salesman who sold me the car lied about the mileage, He said it would get 50 miles to the gallon. It doesn't, but it does get pretty good mileage, more like 40-43 miles per gallon of diesel. I like the sun roof as it can allow me to haul tall things sometimes. If your headlight goes out, it is hard to get to. The engine compartment is really tight, as in stuffed.
