My first Volvo - bought it new in December 2004

I bought this car in December 2004 as a 5-speed manual, naturally aspirated model. My experience is that between its compactness, ride comfort (go with Michelins! it makes a huge difference), and overall handling and engine performance all recommend this vehicle as a semi-sport sedan. The vehicle has been reliable with no more service occasions than I would expect, the sound system is wonderful, and the fuel consumption reasonable for this era.

My first Volvo Vehicle

I purchased this used vehicle in 2006 from a dealer in Orange County. I liked the overall design and size and it still looks in style when some of the newer cars have so much unnecessary design elements which are nonfunctional.

Great car!

The S40 is a great small car. Always dependable, a fantastic road trip car! This car comes from the time when Ford ran things at Volvo, and the failures we've experienced in 90K miles of service have ALL been Ford parts that failed. Other than that, it continues to be a joy to drive and it still gets 30+ MPG running at freeway speeds.

Every thing you would want in a sports sedan

I bought the car used, but I really liked the styling, comfort and handling. This vehicle had over 171,000 mile when I purchased it. I have replaced the engine and transmission and many other parts to make it a real good runner. It handles well on the road, making it a good driver. The way this car handles makes me think about buying a new Volvo when I decide to replace this one. My only regret, the car is not new.
