The car was taken in for diagnosis of squealing brakes. The first diagnosis was inconclusive, with the technician saying he thought dust behind the pads was causing the noise. While putting the wheel back on, he twisted off one of the lug studs. When the car was returned later in the day to have the lug stud replaced, another technician drove the vehicle and diagnosed the problem as a failing rear brake caliper.
