Verified CustomerIt is unfortunate and a big inconvienience when a part fails. Because of the type repair for the starter on this vehicle being located under the intake manifold a factory part was used. Alot of car dealers are backed up for weeks because parts on new cars fail. The parts industry has made it harder for automotive business and for customers also. Sorry for the bad experience
Here's a little bit of history on that starter problem on my 2004 Honda CR-V. That starter that went bad yesterday is actually the starter that they put in back in October of 2013. Yes, after only 5 months it's still under warranty and I didn't have to pay anything today. But the hassle of standing out on the street in the deep freeze and having to have my car towed back to their repair shop at my expense is a bit of a pain, especially since they would've installed 3 starters in my car in the last 5 months; two of them in the past two days. Granted, starters do go bad before their expected life expectancy due maybe to manufacturer's defect, but you think they would've put a better starter today since the starter they put in last October only lasted 5 months.
