Doug, I was not a part of the initial conversation on this repair. I have to assume that when you asked us to diagnose the problem with the electric sliding window behind the seat of your truck that you were aware that we would have to remove the rear seat to access the window motor assembly and perform the proper test to be able to move forward with the next part of the repair process. I am sure that you did not expect us to perform the first stage of this repair free of charge? If you were not told up front that the initial charge would be around $135.00 and this was a fact that you learned after we removed the seat, my apologies, surely, you had to know that we would have some initial charges accrued to be able to go to the next step? How can I give you an estimate on a repair when I have no idea what actually needs repair? Once we completed the preliminary diagnosis, it was determined that the actual repair was about $350.00. You declined the repair and we put the seat back in your vehicle. The $135.00 was just an estimate not an exact price for time the technician spent on your truck. The actual initial time spent on your truck came to $162.00 1.8 hrs of shop time. I refunded the $27.00 that ran over the estimated price, and apologized to you personally for the things that my technician left out of your truck. Although I did not work on your truck personally, I am responsible for what my employees do while under my control as a business owner. I also told you that if anything was damaged as a result of being left in the rain that I would reimburse you for the replacement cost. Obviously my apology was not enough because you feel that since the tech left your belongings out of the truck, I should not have charged you anything as a means of compensation for his mistake? Doug we have been working on your vehicles for over 5 years and to the best of my knowledge this is the first time that we have had a misunderstanding about a repair cost on a vehicle, you even state in your own words that we have performed adequately in the past. So we have 1 issue and now you say that you would not recommend us and give us a low score rating? Do you think that maybe their was a little misunderstanding on your part as well? You really feel this is fair? Well I can honestly say that you are not the only one that is disappointed here. We value you as a customer and we try to provide the best possible service that we can for you. Unfortunately not every repair is an easy and obvious repair that we can quote an exact price on, I feel that we do the best we can do with the circumstances that we are dealing with. Thank you for your honesty.
When I picked up the vehicle after closing time I found many of my backseat area belongings left out in the bed of the truck that had gotten rained on. And then the invoice for the backseat work was $27 higher than I was quoted. The owner apologized for having left my belongings exposed to the elements and refunded $27 but didn't feel the need to reimburse me for work that was done prior to an estimate even though he stated that providing an estimate before any work is their standard procedure. In knowing that an accurate estimate may have been difficult to provide I had asked for an "approximation."
They have performed adequately on other vehicles of mine in the past however I was disappointed this time.
