Some years ago I took an engine to Midwest Engine Service and received very poor service and was charged quite a lot for poor work. This week I understood the shop to be under new management and living close by and preferring not to take my work to a reputable shop on the westside of Madison (Weaver Auto on Odana Rd. (ask for Paul)), I foolishly took it to Midwest Engine Services and was charged double the shop hours than what the job requires (at $129/hr.). Seems like they are comfortable with gouging people. I have a fair amount of experience with auto repair and took them business that requires a machine I don't have. If they are good with ripping off someone knowledgeable I can imagine they have a field-day with those less knowledgeable about cars. If you have money to waste, perhaps its less of an issue.
