Estimate was 2 weeks, repair took 4 days shy of 3 MONTHS!
I was scheduled to drop off my car on 02 January 2023 but received a call just before Christmas that my drop-off for repairs was pushed to the right due to the techs having COVID. My new drop off was 16 January 2023. I picked up my rental car the same day as covered by my insurance (USAA). I received a call from the rental car company on 03 February 2023 as insurance had authorized last day of payment for 06 February 2023. I had to turn my rental car in and my vehicle still wasn’t finished. I called the shop and they estimated another couple weeks as they had a supplemental to submit which should extend or cover another rental car. I was without a vehicle for over a week when I reached back out to the repair shop (Halladay Collision) as insurance still had not received a supplemental request by 13 February, I contacted the repair shop the following morning and was told they submitted it that morning (14 February). I followed up with USAA and they confirmed it was finally submitted (over a week after I was told they were going to). USAA approved the supplemental and I was able to pickup a new rental on 20 FEB 2023. At that time I had gone without a car for two weeks, severely impacting my employment and inconvenience to family members. The only updates I ever received was when I reached out to the repair shop, which numerous times I was asked to call back as the tech working on my car was out or at lunch, and I needed to call back in an hour or so. Good customer service would’ve taken my name and number and had the tech call ME back upon their return. Again, anytime I would call for an update on when my car would be ready it was, oh next week. We got delayed due to an “unexpected change in management” was another excuse I received. I was frustrated that I was told my car would be ready the end of a certain week. I called the shop and the poor lady at the front desk felt bad and sent me a picture of my car, the whole backend was disassembled and there was NO WAY my car was going to be ready. Fast forward to 30 March 2023 when yet again I received a call from the rental company that my insurance authorized a last day of payment of 24 March 2023, which was a week in the past. I immediately contacted my insurance to see if they could extend and also dropped my rental off as to not incur any additional charges. I had a family member drive me to the repair shop and told them I wanted to speak with a manager and physically see my car. After waiting for 10 minutes, I was escorted back to my car and immediately started to cry. My car looked the EXACT same way as the pictures I received on 14 February 2023 on 30 March 2023… over 1 month later. They informed me it had just finished structural repairs the day before and they were going to work to have it finished by 07 April 2023, the next week yet again the same thing I heard every time I asked for an updated estimated completion. The only notification I had was via car wise and it stated my car was schedule for completion 31 March 2023, which was obviously not happening. I was without a vehicle YET AGAIN from 30 March 2023 until the pickup day on 11 April 2023, almost two weeks. I finally received an update via car wise after my visit to the shop on 30 March on 06 April 2023 stating my car was scheduled for paint and would be in that stage for 2 days. I received a voicemail on Monday, 10 April at 12:55pm stating my car was getting finished and was being cleaned up and they would call when it was ready to be picked up that afternoon, no such call ever came. On Tuesday, 11 April I received numerous updates via carwise that my car was being assembled, eyesight calibration, and cleaned up ready for pickup. I had to obtain a ride to the repair shop to pickup my car just over an hour before they closed. Upon seeing my car, I noticed a long scratch in my paint that was not there when I dropped the car off. I showed it to the repair shop and they had to take it back again to buff and work hard on it as it wasn’t going away with simple cleaning. They finally got the scratch repaired and I went to pay my portion of the repair as USAA had sent me the original repair estimate check. They notified me I was $1,010.24 short until they realized there was yet again, another supplemental they submitted THAT day (11 April 2023) to my insurance. They told me I was ok and they would wait for the remainder of payment to come from USAA. When I got home I had to do a full detail cleaning of my car. The inside was covered in dust/dirt from the repair shop and body work completed in the almost 3 months of it being kept there. My drivers seat (2022 Subaru Outback Touring XT) Brown Napa Leather looked very dirty and worn from the mechanic getting in and out with blue/dirty rubbed marks/residue. My car had just over 4,400 miles on it while in the shop and I take extremely good car of my vehicles and keep them cleaned weekly. It took me three hours to vacuum, wash the interior and exterior, including all the vents to get my car back to being clean. The repair shop had stickers stating they were a USAA Stars repair shop, which I was informed by USAA that is no longer true, and after my experience I can understand why.
