Jason,
Thank you for taking time to provide us some more detail regarding your visit.
I am glad to hear the service you received was pleasant regarding our staff. I however am troubled with your conclusions regarding prices. "Dishonest" is a very strong word to use especially in our business and at Aspen Auto Clinic where we strive to defeat dishonesty.
As I see your other comments about parts and auto houses I am afraid we did a poor job of communicating and clarifying the value of what comprises our costs.
When it comes to parts, comparing the sale price of a component from a parts house and from a repair facility is not comparing apples to apples. I hope in your research you were educated about the transmission cooler line and oil cooler line fittings that need to be included and meet a certain standard to be able to function properly on your vehicle. At Aspen Auto Clinic we NEED to put the correct part on and have that part meet our standards to be able to maintain our warranty (36k, 36 month). That is where the real difference lies between Aspen Auto Clinic and not only our competition but also facilities that sell parts. Since you brought up numbers, the price for the part was $309 from Aspen. To buy the same part across the counter (not through service department) from Mopar is $375. We like to consider ourselves a "dealership alternative" to where we can provide excellent service and provide a better warranty (Mopar dealer is 12k, 12 month).
I hope this provides some clarification as to our pricing compared to other repair facilities. Because at the end of the day, that is our role, not the role of a parts house to just sell you parts.
My hope is also to allow for understanding to remove the word Dishonest from your impression of us. If you feel that is not able to occur, I would be happy to refund your remaining oil change coupons that were prepurchased as a gesture to show you that for us, it's not all about the money. It's about customer service, a quality product and a robust warranty so that if things do go wrong we can partner with you to correct.
Sincerely,
Matt
