DO NOT bring your vehicle here..
DO NOT bring your vehicle to ASR. They seem really nice until they make a mistake in which case they will refuse to take any responsibility whatsoever and just pawn your vehicle back off on you like they had nothing to do with it. I brought my Tacoma here for a simple alignment because I changed the struts myself. They called me a couple hours later to tell me the bolts were seized, and they wanted to keep it overnight to let the bolts soak. Strange, but I figured maybe they were busy. They texted me the next morning to let me know the truck was finished, but they wanted me to test drive it (weird, right?) because they “couldn’t complete a full alignment because the bolts are still seized”. I went to pick it up, they hand me the keys, and I go out to my truck to find it completely dead. They had drained the battery entirely. I know they drained the battery, because as soon as I realized it was dead, I looked up at my interior light setting. It was set on the “Door” setting, yet I have always kept it on the “Off” setting for as long as I’ve owned the truck. I went back in to tell Steve, and he acted surprised. He gave me a jump, but as soon as it started, it was struggling real hard just idling (which was completely new to me). I drove down Link, and my truck almost immediately stalled at the light, so I had to run the red light to keep from stalling. I went back and told Steve what was going on, and he just kept saying “we didn’t do anything to your truck.” Being as nice as I possibly could, I told him the alignment feels the exact same, and now my truck isn’t even running. After he kept acting like they did nothing to my truck, I went out to try and start it again, and it was completely dead again. Steve pulled out his battery tester and insults my intelligence by telling me my alternator is bad like I don’t know what he’s doing. He also said “it’s unfortunate your alternator went bad while it was here. That’s just an unfortunate coincidence because we didn’t touch anything under the hood.” But I know they did their “complimentary inspection”, but he wouldn’t tell me what that entailed. He could tell I was pissed because my truck wasn’t running now, so he decided to not charge me for the alignment that they didn’t do anyway because “I wasn’t happy with the alignment” (I seriously can’t make this up). So as soon as my battery charged a bit, I got my truck out of there as soon as possible, but with a drained battery, I got as far as Mulberry and Riverside before my truck died on me. I had to call my GF to take me to get a new battery. I put in a new battery, and it still kept stalling on me whenever it idled, but thankfully it would start right up every time. As soon as I got home, I just parked it and decided I’d deal with it the next day because I was so irritated with the whole situation. Next morning, I drive my GF’s car back over to ASR and ask for any and all paperwork they have on my truck: that way I can try to figure out what they did. Steve then tells me they have no paperwork because they didn’t charge me (shady, right?). And then he progressively becomes more rude and begins rolling his eyes telling me they did nothing to my truck. THEN, the mechanic comes out and admits that my truck was running just fine when he pulled it into the shop, but it died on him during the inspection, and he had to jump it to get it out of the shop. He literally tells me this, yet they NEVER MENTIONED ANY OF THIS TO ME WHEN I INITIALLY PICKED IT UP! They still won’t do anything, so I go home, start it to find out the check engine light had now come on which I’ve NEVER seen before. Turns out there was a code coming from the Mass Air Flow system. After two more days of headache, I finally figure out they didn’t close the air filter box properly. Fixed it and the truck runs perfectly fine again. After all this and $170 on a new battery and MAF sensor, I still needed an alignment. Went to Christian Brothers, they cranked out the alignment in 45 mins. Like I said, DO NOT go to ASR.
