Poor Service
I owned Pontiacs from 1986 until they went out of business. After they went out of business, I was searching for my next brand alternative. I was hoping it would be Hyundai. Perhaps if I had purchased from another Hyundai dealership, it still would be. I am currently looking for a SUV or truck, but I will not purchase anything from Autonation or Hyundai. Here is my sad story.

I loved my Elantra for the first two years, and after 6 years, it still runs like a champ and has great pick up speed for the freeway for a four cylinder vehicle. HOWEVER, just after the 2 year mark, my A/C went out on a very long deserted extremely hot stretch of highway in north Texas. It came back on an hour later, but it has never worked correctly since that time. Hyundai Autonation service department in Corpus Christi looked at it and found nothing wrong. I took it back on a few more occasions...nothing. More on that below.

TODAY I called for what I thought was supposed to be my first very expensive and time consuming GDI appointment. I was told 50k miles for the GDI when I took it in for my first oil change. I asked about all my upcoming services, so I would be aware of when they were due. When I purchased the vehicle, I purchased their service package (it's just oil changes.) I took it in exactly when I was supposed to for each according to my mileage. I was never told that I was supposed to have a GDI every 20k miles. BEWARE, now my warranty will no longer be good because I missed one.

Like I said, my Elantra is running well except for the A/C. Had that problem never happened, I don't think I would have found out how poor the local service department is operated and would have been dumb enough to think I had found my next vehicle brand.

CONTINUATION OF A/C PROBLEM: Last summer 2021, the A/C ceased to work on hot days over 90 degrees at an idle. It worked fine as long as the car was moving on the freeway and it was bearable at an idle if I kept the car in park and revved the idle up to 3k. I spoke with the service personnel several times before finally deciding to take it back to them to look at it. I wanted assurance that I wouldn't be wasting my time just to have them place a thermometer in the A/C vent and take temp readings. He assured me that they wouldn't be doing that, but he mentioned it would cost me money for this visit. Considering my car was still under its full warranty at the time, I thought that was ridicules. He said it only costs me money if they don't find anything. Well, since they never found anything before with their so-called testing, I was very worried. It didn't help that the person kept trying to upsell window tinting as a way to fix the A/C. HOWEVER, I was assured that they would fully test it. I went in for the appointment. First thing out of his mouth was they were going to use the thermometer, and if they didn't find anything. I would have to pay for their time. REALLY. I LEFT.
