Bad attitude and poor communication
had an unfortunate experience trying to buy a new car. I will preface that I have been going to this location for all of the service on my Camry for years and have had great service, but I am disappointed by the experience I had trying to buy a new car. My husband and I put a $1000 deposit on a new Rav4 that was in transit a month before it was expected to arrive. A few weeks passed and five days before I was told the car would arrive, I happened to check the website to review the specs of the car only to find that the car was removed from inventory. After checking in with the sales rep to see if the car was still on track for arrival, I received a call from the rep with bad news. Someone on the sales team had mistakenly cancelled my order and the car was sold 4 days prior! I realize that the mistake is irreversible and perhaps the sales rep did not have a hand in the mistake, but I am disappointed with the lack of empathy and attempt to rectify the situation. 1) My husband has been without a car, and we had been planning to have the car in hand next week. Due to the limited inventory, the next available car won’t be delivered for 3-5 weeks, so this situation has put us out for another month and took away time we could have been searching for another option. 2) I realize that the deposit did not guarantee a sale, but it is frustrating that while we put money down to show our good faith that we will buy the car, there is no show of good faith from the dealership that they won’t sell the car from under us. The dealership doesn’t need my business – the Rav4’s sell themselves – but it puts a bad taste in my mouth that we have been treated as just another number and our inconvenience and frustration is of no concern. 3) The lack of organization and communication around the situation was the icing on the cake. If I hadn’t noticed the car was missing from the website, would the mistake have been communicated to me or even noticed at all? Who knows. Either way, the sales rep and sales manager that I spoke to didn’t seem to think it was a big deal. I know it does little for the dealership to lose one little customer, but my husband and I will start looking for a car elsewhere and will probably find another place to get our service done as well.
