Did not fix trouble
Had suv towed to Kanes. Used him for 20+ years. I thought it was alternator but he said no it was the battery. New battery went dead 2 days later on Friday night. Kanes is closed Saturday took it to a different shop, they replaced the Alternator. 313.78 bill from kanes (86.00 in towing) for an $89. battery. I still think the old battery was good but I will never know for sure

Hello, Ken i certainly appologize for any inconvience you have experienced after bringing your vehicle to our shop, as you know it is not our policy to sell our customers anything they do not need.
after reviewing the work performed on your vehicle. it appears that the alternator failed due to the stress it went thru trying to charge a bad battery.
TECH INFO: a vehicle with a bad alternator will only run for 15 to twenty minutes then the electrical system voltage will drop to low to support the ignition system causing the vehicle to die out.
as you stated your vehicle went 2 days. that confirms to me what my tech stated ,that he load tested the charging system and the alternator, performed a voltage draw test and everything was working normally when it left our shop.
there is procedure to test how long an alternator will continue to work.
if this helps you out i will put a credit of 48.00 you spent for checking the electrical system, towards your next visit with us. if you will allow us to make up for your troubles. sinserely yours terry kane.
