I did some research online and found that average charge to replace batteries in cars was $100 to $300. The man told me that price was really only in fly over states. He said it's much more expensive here in Washington. He asked if I wanted to go ahead and replace the battery, I said yes because the battery was dying and it needed replaced. I wasn't sure if it would not start the car sometime soon and I would be stranded somewhere. They replaced the battery and I paid the charges in disbelief that it cost so much for a 30 minute job just to replace a car battery. Later that day I called several other places that replace batteries. Acura of Lynnwood where I usually to for my car maintenance, they said it would cost $195, Goodyear on Hoyt $295, and Les Schwab $250. I believe I was misled about the cost to replace a battery clearly because other places are charging much less, I should have just gone to Acura of Lynnwood as usual and would have paid much less. It's a total rip off that ONB charges $560 to replace a car battery and I called back and spoke with Abby and told her about this. While she and the man at the front desk were very nice about listening to my concerns, they offered no solution to pay less than the $560 charge. I'm now working with BECU Visa to see if there is a way to get a least a $300 credit to reduce the $560 charge which was completely ridiculous. It doesn't cost $560 to replace a car battery and ONB totally overcharged for that service. I would not go back for any type of car service again due to such a massive overcharge for a simple battery replacement. I would be satisfied if the owner of ONB reads my comment and would give me a $300 credit for the charge, otherwise BECU Visa will have to analyze my request to overturn the $560 charge.
