deceiving management
I used this shop in Charlestown MA/Somerville line because my job had brought our fleet vehicles there for service and I even had them do some exhaust work on my personal car once with good results. Well, the manager I was used to dealing with left and a new guy, Mike is now the manager. This guy is a pathological liar and hasn't turned a wrench in decades if his squeaky clean hands are any sort of indicator. I had a snapped timing belt on a non interference motor. I called to ask if they could handle that. he said sure bring it in. Next day I get the call :you need a new engine: Now as I call out each one of his lies he doubles down with a new one. Well its a non interference motor it should be in the same condition as before the belt snapped! OH IT'S NOT BENT VALVES THERE IS NO COMPRESSION IN THE CYLINDERS WE DID A COMPRESSIOM TEST. Oh okay what were the numbers for each cylinder for the test? ACTUALLY WE DIDN'T DO A COMPRESSION TEST WE DID A LEAK DOWN TEST IN ONE CYLINDER. LOGICALLY YOU NEED A NEW ENGINE. Listen buddy I think you have the cam gear 180* out because you're not making any sense. The timing mars are hard to read its a common mistake on these engines. Just try it if I am wrong I'll pay the extra labor. Next day calls me: ACTUALLY WE HAD THE MARKS LINED UP PERFECTLY BUT THE CAM IS WORN SO WE HAD TO CLOCK THE CAM GEAR 3 TEETH OVER TO GET IT TO RUN. Mike you are full of shit this car has less than 5k/year on it the cam is fine it ran fine before, the belt has never been replaced it was set from the factory. OH NO THAT BELT WAS ONLY WORN WHERE IT BROKE IT LOOKED REALLY GOOD i DON'T BELIEV EIT WAS ORIGINAL TO THE CAR I'LL GO DIG IT OUT OF THE TRASH AND SHOW YOU. Never mind dude just put all these lies in writing for when my engine explodes and let me get out of here. Mike of course has to re-do the receipt a couple times because he keeps NOT PUTTING the lies he has been telling me in writing and I keep calling him out. Finally get everything settled, go out to my car and guess what? The belt was in my front seat and it was shredded. Worn all over the place. "Only worn in the spot it broke" though. Just lie after lie after lie. If I knew nothing about cars this would have been an easy scam for thousands of dollars for these guys. Truck runs now but runs like shit because they messed with the timing and I have to re-do the job myself.
Never take your car here. Me AND my company of 14 fleet vehicles sure aren't.
GOOD JOB MIKE!
