Oil Pan Bolt Needs Replacing
In 60 years of driving, I have never been told that an oil pan drain bolt on one of my cars needed to be replaced for a cost of $10.
When I took my car in for an oil change, I was told that although there was no leakage, the o-ring on the bolt was wearing thin, and the bolt needed to be replaced. I asked why they couldn't just replace the o-ring/gasket, but they said they did not carry replacements.
Then, when I questioned the need, I was told that it was really the threads on the bolt that were getting thin and created a danger of bolt shearing upon tightening and not an o-ring problem. I allowed them to replace it, but I also asked them to give me back my original bolt.
I took it to Ford, and they said it was fine. This all took place on a newer vehicle that has had at most 8 oil changes. I feel I was scammed...

Hi Edwin,

Thank you for the call today I'm very sorry for the inconveniences we may cause. Like I explained over phone replacing a drain plug on time on any vehicle will save thousands in unnecessary engine repairs, understanding that you still fill it was not necessary and we respect your opinion.  My offer still on the table a full courtesy credit for a complete Oil Change on the next needed service.   Once again thank you for returning the call today and enjoy the holidays.
