Unfortunatly, this customer must have a poor memory. This vehicle arrived with a locked up engine, it had thrown a rod right through the block. We told the customer that day that he needed a new engine. He had purchased an extended service plan with his truck. We contated the extended service plan company but they rejected the claim citing "lack of maintanance". The customer had done one oil change since he purchased the vehicle. On bejalf of the customer, we convinced the extended service plan company to cover his engine. But, they would not cover the entire cost of the repair. The customer told us that he would think about it. Two months later, we finally sent him a letter asking him about what he wanted to do and that we could not store his truck forever. Eventually, he decided to proceed with the repair. We ordered the engine and his vehicle was finished within two weeks. So, ultimately, his vehicle was towed in and driven out. The three months that we had the truck was while we waited for him to decide what to do.
A few days later, he came back with a check engine light. We diagnois the problem as needing a secondary air induction pump. Although this was NOT part of our original repair, we replaced it at no charge in an effort to foster goodwill.
A week later he says he has a check engine light again. We explained to him that a check engine light could indicate many items other than the engine we put in especially on a vehicle that has over 230,000 miles. The customer confirmed that the truck is running good and told us he would bring it in. Since that time he has not shown up for three different appointments.
The customer states that his truck has "the same mechanical fault". But, a truck that arrives with a hole in the block and no oil versus one that now has an engine that "is running good" does not sould like the same issue to us.
We at JNAS definately stand behind our work but, we can't be held responsible for everything that happens to a 12 year old truck with over 230,000 miles on it.
