Used Ford Ranger
BUYER BEWARE
We bought a 2011 Ford Ranger at Koppy Motors February 2026 knowing that we were taking our chances purchasing a used vehicle. We were anxious to replace our last Ranger damaged in an accident and considering that this particular used version of this truck can be hard to find, we went ahead and purchased it at was, I suppose, was a reasonable price.
We were talked out of our concerns about a “dragging, scraping“ sound we heard intermittently when test driving it with one of their dealership representatives, who explained
it away as a result of using the 4 wheel drive when not on the appropriate road conditions needed to fully engage 4 wheel drive. So, accepting the explanation, we bought the truck.

That same sound continued and were assured of their willingness to correct what was the cause of it. We returned to Koppy’s repair garage where they reconnected what was supposedly a disengaged, defective mount on a cable.

After driving the truck for 2-3 weeks under various winter city street conditions we still heard that same “noise”. I placed a call to the mechanic who did the earlier “repair“, describing to him what I was hearing. It turned out that what he suggested might actually be the problem is what we ended up spending nearly $3,000 to repair at our local garage.
Keep in mind these issues were “checked over” ( as stated by their repair mechanic) before we were sold the truck, not sure what he meant by saying that.
We bought “as is-no warranty” a common practice with the purchase of a used vehicle, but as retirees on a fixed and limited income, it stings to need to have to lay out thousands more to secure a sound and safe drive in the vehicle we purchased from Koppy Motors.
