Ocean Street Auto Repair has been helping people in South Portland, Portland and Scarborough keep their cars running great since 1976. Lots of things have changed under the hood over the past 40 years. Carburetors are out. Fuel injectors are in. Plugs and points are gone. Everything is electronic. Cars are increasingly becoming more like computers. One thing that hasn’t changed though is that customers still like to know and trust the person who’s working on their car. At Ocean Street Auto Repair that guy is Ted Abbott. He’s been helping customers keep their vehicles in top operating condition at Ocean Street for the past ten years. Now he owns the business.
Ted is an ASE Certified Mechanic. That means he has kept up to date with the changing technology. He has the experience, skills and tools needed to diagnose and repair most every make, model and year of car. Ted will always give you the information you need to make good choices about keeping your vehicles running well. He will tell you what’s wrong, how to fix it and how much it’s going to cost. You can count on him for great work at a fair price.
Over the next few weeks we will be updating this site to provide more information about our services. For now, we invite you to stop in and congratulate Ted (and get your oil changed).
We keep you on the road!

I was a jackass and had a friend of a friend replace my rear brake pads and calipers and rotors. In the end he took three days and decided he couldn't bleed my brakes because it "would take too long and I have other places to be". I was pissed.
The closest mechanic to my home is ocean Street Auto repair. I found them on google. A small joint at the intersection of Broadway and main Street. I was prepared for an exorbitant bill.
Instead, he took care of me the same day, in just a couple hours. Not only did he bleed my brakes, but he fixed the shoddy and unsafe work the "friend of a friend"did that was incredibly unsafe. He also fixed the electrical problems that made my car stall at least once per trip. He also called me up to tell me that I should never have that man work on my car again.
He did this all for one hour labor.
Needless to say I was pleased. The next day I spoke to a random gentleman who wanted to buy my mustang. I told him where I brought my van and how happy I was. He mentioned he had brought several of his vehicles there, one of them was a Mercedes with an expected $2,000 bill for electrical issues. Ocean Street auto called him about 10 minutes after he dropped it off to tell him it was just a fuse, and there would be no charge.
Any auto repair shop that will do more than expected, and do it at the cost of a diagnostic or one hour of repair work, or even free in this gentleman's case, is one of a kind. Truly.
If you have to drive or have your car towed a few extra miles to get to ocean Street auto repair, do yourself a favor. Go out of your way for them. They will go out of their way for you!
