While on vacation in Myrtle Beach, our engine died. Our dealer warranty paid for a brand new engine…which Rick and his team MIS-INSTALLED. One month later, Rick and Precision Tune Auto Care Myrtle Beach are refusing to honor their 12-month, 12,000 mile warranty on this job—by refusing to pay to repair the damage that was done to the engine as a result of their mis-installation.
1. Rick will say that we voided the warranty because the mis-installation was diagnosed by the Mini-Cooper dealer in our home town (Tucson), instead of the local Precision shop. But the local Precision Tune Auto Care told us they don’t have the capacity to do the job. Further, we have been in constant contact via phone and text with Rick, just as the warranty requires. At no point did he say we needed to stop working with Mini or tell us that we needed to take the car somewhere else. We have the text messages to prove this.
2. The Mini-Cooper manager sent Rick evidence (including pictures) of what Rick did wrong. Rick accused the manager of the dealership of lying and shoddy workmanship.
3. Our local Mini dealer has gone above and beyond to try to resolve this, even offering to pay half the cost of the repairs required due to Rick’s mis-installation…even though they have no responsibility here. Rick refuses to pay the other half (approx $2000), even though his errors caused this new engine to malfunction.
4. Maybe most frustrating, NO ONE AT THE DISTRICT OR CORPORATE LEVEL of Precision will return a phone call or email. The only person we have been able to talk to about this is RICK…our calls and emails to Precision corporate are routed directly back to him. Well, he’s the guy who messed up this job in the first place. In other words, Precision not only doesn’t honor their own warranty, their customer care Is non-existent.
I wish I could give this shop a MINUS 5 star review.
Be warned.

One of the best in the U.S.
Second visit. Kelly and his staff of excellent auto mechanics made sure my Toyota was ready for a long road trip. I've lived all over the country, and Precision Tune Auto Care in Myrtle Beach is one of the best auto shops I've ever dealt with. Frankly, I will never use the local Toyota dealership here; PTAC has reasonable prices, top notch, honest service, and terrific people.

Wonderful Service
My story starts in Lafayette, IN where I live. I was getting ready for a trip to Myrtle Beach, SC and had the oil changed at Jiffy Lube in Lafayette. A few days later I drove the 800 miles to Myrtle Beach and when I got there my oil light came on and a BIG oil leak was under my car. I called Stephanie at Precision Tune Auto Care in Myrtle Beach (150 Rodeo Drive) and they immediately checked over the engine and was able to find the leak. The problem was the oil filter had not been put on tight by Jiffy Lube (it was only finger tight) and my oil was leaking out. Brett and Joe showed me the issue and immediately put in a new oil filter and new oil. They also sprayed my engine down with engine degreaser and cleaned everything up. Next they ran the engine for 15 minutes to make sure there was no oil leak and checked out the engine to see if there was any damage from having low oil (luckily there wasn't). Stephanie, Brett and Joe were fantastic...very friendly...and made me feel at ease. Brett and Joe were very experienced with autos and my car was in good hands. They did all this....check the car, find the leak, new filter/oil, degrease and clean the engine area, check for engine damage....all for $31.50. Complete Bargain!! For anyone having car issues and you are in Myrtle Beach, SC...go to Precision Tune at 150 Rodeo Drive........they are GREAT!!!
