1. Initial Delays & Lack of Urgency
When I first contacted the shop, they told me it would take 7-10 days before they could assess my vehicle. I had no unrealistic expectations, but it took them 18 days just to perform an initial estimate.
Reputable shops typically provide a preliminary estimate quickly to start the approval process and order necessary parts. Instead, their delay slowed my claim from the beginning.
2. Failure to Document Obvious Damage
My car was involved in two separate claims (one from a prior incident and one from flying debris). Despite this, they failed to include all visible damages—such as my completely broken left rims—when submitting their estimate.
When I pointed this out, they dismissed my concerns. But as I expected, their incomplete estimate only caused more delays later.
3. Major Administrative Errors That Delayed Insurance Processing
After weeks of no progress, I contacted my insurance company and discovered:
The shop submitted estimates incorrectly, causing insurance to bounce them back twice.
They mixed up photos from both claims, creating confusion.
Their mistakes forced my claim to be reassigned to a more experienced adjuster before things could move forward.
Once my adjuster corrected the errors, insurance approved the estimate within a week—yet the shop still delayed things further. They took additional weeks to submit a necessary supplement, which they originally refused to acknowledge.
4. Rushed Repairs After Pressure, Then More Delays
After significant pressure from both me and my insurance company, they finally completed most repairs within 10 days. While that was a relief, it only confirmed my suspicion: they were overwhelmed and dragging out the process.
Yet, despite nearing completion, I faced more unnecessary delays. By Day 61, I was told my car just needed alignment, polishing, and rocker panel installation—tasks that take about a day. However, on Friday, they suddenly refused to release my car.
5. Lack of Transparency & Potentially Withholding My Car
At this point, insurance has already approved all estimates and issued payment. There is no legitimate reason for the shop to hold my car unless there is an unapproved supplement, which there isn’t.
Now on Day 64, the only possible explanation is that they are waiting for final payment before releasing my vehicle—which is not standard practice for insurance repair claims.
6. Refusal to Return My Old Wheels
Colorado law requires shops to return replaced parts upon request unless the insurance company prohibits it. Despite this, Prestige Imports is refusing to return my original wheels, claiming they can only release my tires. I am still waiting on confirmation from my insurance company.
Final Thoughts
While one employee, Ira, has been courteous and professional, this does not excuse the shop’s lack of urgency, poor handling of estimates, and unnecessary delays.
Based on my experience, Prestige Imports Collision Center appears to take on more business than they can handle. If you value timely repairs, clear communication, and a shop that prioritizes the customer experience, I strongly DO NOT RECOMMEND bringing your vehicle here.
Once repairs are complete, I will update this review with a repair quality assessment. If the shop makes things right, I will update accordingly.
