overall bad experience.
I debated on leaving this review. And some time has now passed so I feel I should. I had sent my truck off of a referral from a friend.
Had a couple garages look at it and give me different opinions. I told them about what I was told. They informed me that they were honest and would give it a full going over. They called with an estimate said that those other garages had lied that they had scoped my pistons everything was clear that it was just an injector issue. They would replace the injector and it would require an oil change. They then informed me they only use genuine OEM parts. I agreed so a $300 injector was the plan. I was called finally a few weeks later and was told that the bad news was it did not fix the issue. His mechanic said best guess is it is in the head.. why not replace the head I do not know. I was informed that I owed $600 bill and that I needed to replace engine.. cab off to do the job truck.. $15,000.00 So already being frustrated about this since I had only bought the truck 3 months prior. I brought it home. Received a few texts asking when I would be bringing it back to have the engine done I chose to leave this truck set for over a year while I continued eating a payment for a broken down vehicle. I finally spent $8000.00 to order an engine. When it finally arrived now it was find someone to install since they had quoted me $10,000.00 for an engine.Well wouldn't you know a friend of mine knew someone that worked on diesels and said he would stop by we could change engine at my house. He brought his computer hooked up said same code as I was having before garage trip. So he opened injectors.. This is where it gets good. Not a OEM part was used but a junk yard injector with paint marking on side. Which was also faulty. And then he further informed me that the injectors the other 7 that matched were actually upgraded injectors higher psi for performance and apparently the 1 had failed. which they replaced with garbage. even a factory OEM would not have fixed it. due to better injectors being installed and that is why the computer was saying it was faulty to begin with because it was not producing the required psi. Now my issue is they wanted to replace my engine for the $15,000.00 that was not necessary but also I could not use this vehicle for a year due to their lies. The truck is running fine now. But if a backyard mechanic fixed it why could not a certified garage? Or were they just selling something not needed for profit? They were going to install a used motor at that price. Was my engine even going to be replaced or just fixed correctly for again $15000,00
The good news is I now have another engine laying in my garage as a backup. Does anyone need a good 6.4? Never installed
