i brought my car in for service because my back up camera wasn’t working. after not hearing anything for a couple weeks, i received a call that there was a brown sticky substance like soda in the rear camera button and it would cost about $300 to fix. a couple days later i received another call that i was quoted wrong and the price would actually be around $600 to fix. after another week or so i got another update where the staff was explaining that they replaced the button but it still wasn’t working and kept pushing that it was my fault because the brown sticky substance was soda and it had spilled on the button or exploded in my car. (if it was spilled or exploded it would have affected other buttons AND would have been everywhere else in the car). after about another week i got a call that the car was ready to be picked up and when speaking to the staff i asked what the problem was. the staff said it was a faulty camera/radio and both of those were replaced and under warranty. i verified with the staff that it wasn’t the button but a faulty camera and the staff confirmed that the button wasn’t the problem but it was going to cost about $700. i told the staff i was quoted three different prices and i could not pay $700. i am a full time student and i have other bills like rent to pay for so they gave me a discount. when picking up my car i had to pay $633.69 for a button that wasn’t broken in the first place.
