Once I finally received the quote, the numbers didn’t add up. I asked where the extra charges were coming from and was told I didn’t qualify for certain rebates due to being out of state. However, their own website clearly states that if a customer doesn’t qualify for a rebate due to location, the same discount would be applied as a dealer discount. When I pointed this out with screenshots, I was told they wouldn’t honor that policy because “they had already discounted the truck.”
Zane made me an offer, which I initially declined, but later accepted the next day. At that point, he raised the price by $185. I reluctantly agreed again and asked to put down a deposit to hold the truck — no reply. The next morning, we confirmed a pickup time. I drove over 3.5 hours, only to be told an hour before arrival that the truck had been sold to a local customer because it “made more sense” for the dealership. Zane offered a similar truck with a lower MSRP for the same higher price — a classic bait-and-switch.
Despite all these red flags, we still went to the dealership. We did end up purchasing a truck, but even during financing, there were issues. A rebate we were going to apply for ourselves was pre-added in a way that actually increased the price. The taxes were printed on a separate sheet, and after “negotiating,” a new sheet showed lower taxes — creating the illusion of a price drop without actually reducing the vehicle price. Blake seemed friendly, but it’s hard to believe so many “honest mistakes” were truly accidents.
Bottom line: be extremely cautious when dealing with this dealership. Their tactics are misleading, communication is poor, and the overall experience was a mess. I would not recommend Town East Ford to anyone looking for a straightforward and honest car-buying process.
