My personal experience
My dad has been going to this shop for several years, with no issues, but it’s been a different story for me. I tend to shy away from leaving bad reviews, because the world would be better if we just live and let live, but in this case it may save someone some hassle.
I had three individual bad experiences before posting this, and I’ll briefly lay them out here. First my check engine light was on and they said they would put in a part that would fix it. The light soon came back on with the same code, so at my next oil change I mentioned it and asked what could be done, since I’d spent considerable money for a fix they said would work, but didn’t. Jared told me I was out of luck because I didn’t come in right away, but waited till the next oil change. I still think a good shop would stand behind their work, but I should have come right in.
Two, they changed my oil and told me the rear differential in my mustang was in desperate need of total replacement, and that a lot of metal shavings were in the oil. This is a major expense, and it came at a bad time for me so I had a trusted local shop, the magic wrench, give me a second opinion. Keith assured me there was nothing wrong with the diff, but I had him change the fluid and visually inspect it just to be sure. Sure enough, my rear differential is still in perfect condition with virtually no wear.
The third issue that broke the camel’s back, so to speak, was when I decided to go back to changing my own oil. They had use the wrong filter for my car, and had wrenched it so tight that it took several hours and a variety of tools to remove it. I pounded a screwdriver through it to use as a pry bar, and it was so tight that it snapped the screwdriver without so much as budging. The filter was entirely mangled beyond recognition by the time I got it off, after several trips to town for new tools.
There are several other shops in the area that are top notch, where you will pay a little more but never have to worry about dishonesty or shoddy work. You truly do get what you pay for, and as the owner of one of these shops said to me, regarding Treasure View Auto, “it’s too small a town to do business the way they do”.
