Was told I needed a part I didn't need.
I was told I needed a muffler for inspection. I asked if it could be patched and was told no. I ordered a muffler and clamp, cut off my old muffler and found out there was nothing wrong with it. There was holes in the pipe under the heat shields. I ground off the heat shields, patched it, put on the new muffler because I wasn't going to weld the old one back on and it passed inspection. When I complained about ordering a hundred dollars in parts and spending a whole Saturday working on a job that should have cost 20 dollars and 2 hours, I got a shrug and a "sorry".

Hi William,  Sorry that you felt like you received an unsatisfactory response.  Here at VJ Wood Service Center we stand by our work and we do not perform temporary repairs "patch jobs".  The issue was an exhaust leak coming from the piece of pipe connected to the muffler that comes with the muffler as one whole assembly and had the exhaust leak been coming from a piece of pipe that was not attached to the muffler a cut and sleeve could have been performed.  We are glad that you were able to save money replacing your muffler yourself instead of having us do it.

Thank you,

Candice M.
