Poor Customer Service, Does not stand behind product.
⭐️ BUYERS BEWARE⭐️
On August 29th, I traded a pristine condition 2022 Chevy Silverado Trail Boss for a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 Duramax at Walt Massey of Hattiesburg. I did not receive the truck until September 1st at around 9:53pm; this was because an oil gasket leak was missed in prior inspection and needed replacement. This truck was purchased with an extended 25,000 mile warranty for approximately $3,880.00.
The truck was driven roughly 200 highway miles within the time frame of September 2nd - September 8th; which is when I was heading south on Old Hwy 63N at 12:20 and the upper ball joint in the upper control arm busted and sent my truck in to a fish tail at highway speeds. Despite losing my brakes and a quarter mile battle - leaving a skid mark for the full quarter mile in the road way, where my tire had luckily lodged within my fender well - I was able to get the truck slowed and off the roadway.
I immediately called my salesman after contacting OnStar and explained the situation and how nervous I was about this new truck that had almost wrecked from a mechanical failure and texted him photos of the incident. The response I received was: “ Ok showed my sales manager and got all the coverage so towing and repairs will be taken care of.” The truck was towed from Old Hwy 63 to Walt Massey of Lucedale.

Since September 8th, Walt Massey has not contacted me initially once.
I have contacted the Lucedale Walt Massey and the Hattiesburg Walt Massey approximately 4 times, spoken successfully with representatives 3 times and of those times, I’ve asked about a loaner vehicle 3 times. I am still without a vehicle on September 20th and my truck still sits on a jack in the back of the Lucedale Walt Massey service lot with no progress or determination.

13 days after the mechanical failure of a poorly inspected vehicle; Walt Massey is “still deciding on the verdict” for how to reconcile my truck and claim that contacting my insurance would be the best route.
Fun Fact - Most insurance companies WILL NOT cover mechanical failures, typically only cosmetic damage is able to be claimed in the result of an incident caused by mechanical failures.
They have made zero effort to contact me until yesterday evening, when my advisor contacted the Hattiesburg Walt Massey service manager, TC; where it was heavily insinuated that the driver was at fault for the ball joint busting and that insurance again, should be contacted for repairs and a decision won’t be made by Walt Massey until Friday on who will receive responsibility of my truck.

So, after purchasing 5 vehicles from Walt Massey over the past 6 years and referring many others to the establishment, I am here to tell you; BEWARE OF THE VEHICLES THAT YOU ARE BUYING FROM WALT MASSEY AND BEWARE OF THE “EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE” THAT THEY WILL INSIST YOU TO PURCHASE.

🚩🚩🚩 TL;DR : The truck was purchased pre-owned from Walt Massey, supposedly certified and inspected, however after only 200- highway miles, a mechanical failure that could have been caught with a proper inspection, almost cost me more than I’m willing to come to terms with and now the good ole’ crawfish game is in play on a truck that I paid heavily for, because I knew I would enjoy it and keep it for a long time until this incident. Now Walt Massey does not want to right a wrong that will continue to cost them money vs just fixing their mistake.

If you are as upset as me about this issue, I urge you to please reach out to Walt Massey and give your honest opinion of the situation or any concerns you may have about a vehicle you may have purchased from Walt Massey. This is not customer service and this is not “standing behind your product” this is some Rich Men North of Richmond behavior and we can not stand for it or it will only progress.
