Hyundai 2023 Ioniq 5 Limited- Bought Used-10 Month Review

An excellent vehicle but I will never be fully confident of it until the ICCU issue is resolved and explained. Mine spend 6 weeks at the dealer waiting for the ICCU replacement parts and was repaired free under warranty. It has been fine since but I do not have complete confidence in its reliability but the good warranty helps.

A Super Car & A Great Value

We have a 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited and just love it. So far it's been performing very well with just a few Recalls that were handled nicely by the dealership. We love the Exterior & Interior styling and its performance, especially on the Interstate highways. Hyundai, recently sent us a complimentary charging adapter, so we can now use the Tesla charging network across the country, which now allow us to feel comfortable using the car for long distance travel. We're very happy that we selected the Hyundai Ionia 5 and it's a great value, when you compare other EV cars in its class. High end EV Cars, i.e BMW, Cadillac, etc. similarly outfitted in 2023 cost at least 25% to 30% more

Love the Car, but hate the ongoing ICCU and 12V battery fiasco.

Thoroughly happy with the car with one exception. The ICCU malfunction has beeb a catastrophic problem. Hyundai's response to this has been a colossal failure. Aside from that, the vehicle is amazing. I wish I had been able to continue to enjoy it for the 7 weeks that it sat in a coma at the dealer, waiting for the ICCU repair.

We generally really like our 2023 IONIQ 5. It is very stable, comfortable, has great safety features, incredibly fast Level 3 charging, decent miles/kW efficiency, and above average entertainment options. The deficits: no rear window wiper (this is a killer, especially in rainy/snowy seasons), no ability to stop charging from the dashboard (totally ignorant design, IMO), and some lesser issues like overly-protective beeping on lane shifts (are area is full of very narrow, striped roads) and low-value phone app (at least it allows for charging start/stop).

Nice vehicle but a few cautions

Overall performance is good and charging system works quite well. Cargo space good (particularly with rear seat moved forward). I am not happy with the rapid depreciation of the vehicle (I have less than 11,000 miles and it appears to have lost 50% of it value. The lane departure and emergency braking features are TERRIBLE. I feel much safer with these disabled.

disappointing experience

bought this car as I detested buying a Tesla. It worked well initially, but then I had repeated problems with the auxiliary battery dying, had to have the car towed many times. Hyundai repurchased the car under NJ Lemon Law

Just an average EV

I would not recommend the ionic 5 to my friends and family. There’s nothing that stands out and seems like there has been way too many recalls. The warranty for the battery (not 12v) is 10 years but other than that the warranty is average.

OTA update needed

great car .. but the getting the car's navigation set to a destination before the Battery pre-conditionung can be operating is just silly. Please update software to enable battery pre-conditioning on demand (like the '25 models) for earlier cars via one of the star button menus for the dash or steering wheel ASAP.

Mostly very good

Ioniq 5 is reliable, comfortable and pretty fun to drive. Some features are annoying, including the app, which is terrible compared to a comparable EV app.

Great except for two flaws

It is a generally awesome vehicle. I love the ride comfort, the power, and the range, and the features it has. The 2 flaws in the vehicle are the lack of a rear window wiper (I do think one would be extremely useful), and no USB-C ports in the interior. Given that USB-C is now pretty much a worldwide standard, that’s a weird omission.

Love the car but many recalls and service has been mixed at times

Love the car but way too many recalls car failed nearly totally right after recalls made and done. Out of service a month. Factory hitch small size and had to return it and only got 50 percent refund From dealer Service has been slow. Dealer sold or tried to sell me service etc coupons that not appropriate for electric car. Car Very expensive. But well designed re use of space. Drives very well. Comfortable. Excellent rear seat lots of carrying versatility and good use of space. Very comfortable.

I reaaly enjoy driving this vehicle. It's very quiet and my wife really appreciate that because she is able to sleep in long trips. Super smooth ride, very powerful. Big enough to fit large items in the rear part when you fold the seats
