I’ve used all the features and here’s what I think

Best-in-Class Technology I purchased the 2024 Sonata Hybrid for its tech, choosing it over the Santa Fe to get those premium features in a sedan. Having driven countless rentals across every major brand, I can say Hyundai’s driver assistance is the best currently on the market—it even rivals systems in high-end vehicles like the Ford Expedition. The adaptive cruise and regenerative braking (especially in Sport mode) are life-savers in heavy traffic. They genuinely reduce my stress and keep me from losing my cool in gridlock because the car handles the stop-and-go so smoothly. It’s a "co-pilot" experience that feels years ahead of the competition. Reliability & Software Hurdles Despite the elite driving tech, I’ve hit several frustrating roadblocks. After an Apple update, CarPlay stopped working entirely. I’ve spent months on this—new cables, head unit resets, and dealer visits—with no fix. It’s a software failure that shouldn’t happen on a tech-forward car. Additionally, the horn has already failed within the first year, and the MyHyundai app is inconsistent. This winter, the remote start would trigger the engine but fail to activate the climate control or seat warmers. The 10-minute safety timer usually expires before the cabin even begins to warm up, defeating the purpose of the feature. Build Quality & Performance The paint quality is a concern; I noticed chips on the hood within the first month, even though I only use professional hand washes. Mechanically, the car isn't quite as "sporty" as the price range suggests. The handling feels a bit loose, and while the regen braking is great for cruising, the physical stopping power is underwhelming in "stop-short" emergency situations. I also wish this trim level included power-folding mirrors. Final Verdict I genuinely enjoy this car and love the "brains" behind the driving assistance. However, for a 2024 model, the paint durability, software stability, and basic hardware (like the horn and brakes) need to be tightened up. If Hyundai addresses these "body and soul" issues to match the elite tech, it’s a 10/10 car. Edited with Gemini for clarity, but this is 100% my driver experience.

Disappointment

Too many small to medium problems that should not be. Headlight shoot too low, as do brights - and the auto is not gauged well. Certain angles of vision are poor - especially on right rear, like when making a left turn. Much worse when rear window is bad when wet. Ironic, it melts ice very well, but can't handle rain. The maps and routes are poor compared to Google Maps, Waze and the others. The dashboard buttons and what's behind them are not at all intuitive, so remain a mystery. I don't like to spend heavy time researching what things mean and the instructions often don't match the symbols. The front passenger seat does not go up and down. I was told it would do that and, if not, it would be adjusted to do so. Salesman went gone and my request was denied. So my wife doesn't like to sit there. I do like the information about miles and time, etc., in front of me. MUCH better than in my wife's Ioniq5. WORST things about the dealer. Very tough to get anyone on the phone to help for information. No place to park near the store. Sometimes very courteous and other times no one even look at me. There's more, but I'm too busy.

It delivers on all the promises

Great car. The hybrid is powerful and delivers better than expected gas mileage. Would be nice if electric passenger seat height was also adjustable like it is on electric driver seat. Small modification that shouldn’t have been left out.

Excellent Styling and Technology...Mileage didn't meet expectations

This is my 3rd Sonata Hybrid and I've loved each of them but my current one a bit less. They styling is great. The technology is great. The smooth ride is great. The only issue I've had with this 2024 Limited model is the mileage. I'm getting a little over 41 mpg after over 11k miles. In my others I averaged a combined mileage of 45 - 46 mpg through my ownership. Dealership says nothing wrong with it. Although I like the car, and it is very comfortable, I'm thinking of exchanging it and moving to another brand. The mileage was one of my main reasons for buying it.
