My son gave me his 2007 Camry. When I drove it I noticed the front driverside wheel got much hotter than the other 3 wheels. I took the Camry to Community Auto & Tire, my goto repair shop, to have the problem resolved.
After I got the repaired car back and after a vacation, I drove the Camry seversl times over a period of about a month. The brake paddle felt a little spongy.and it didn't improve with the 3 or 4 times I used it. (Sometimes the replacement parts might need some time to settled in),
When I looked inside the brake fluid reservoir.the brake fluid had a yellowish tint, probably due to some water being absorbed slowly from moisture in the air over the years causing some corrosion. The boiling point of brake fluid decreased due to absorbed water. The higher than normal heat caused by the previous brake problem caused the brake fluid to boil and added air bubbles into the brake flui, which made the fluid compressible, leading to a soft pedal and reduced the stopping power of the brakes somewhat. Additionally there was some floating black particles in the fluid, probably due to removing the brake fluid filler reservoir cap over the years before wiping off the accumulated dirt on top of the reservoir cap first.
When Randy inquired about how the car was doing, like he always does, I told Randy about the spongy brake petal and Randy said I needed a brake fluid flush job which would take about a couple of hours.
After the brake line flush the brake fluid was clear. Most importanty there was no more spongy feeling when I stepped on the brake paddle.
