So since this is a church, lets start with scripture. Galatians CH. 5 V. 22 But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, LONGSUFFERING, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. This customer wasn't too longsuffering seeing that he must have rushed home to trash a small business over nothing. My guys tried to explain the situation in a professional manner , but told me the guy never said much , just appeared angry and walked out. Sorry we couldn't tell you what you wanted to hear, but don't shoot the messenger. So here is the story. Customer comes in and says he needs a wheel alignment , so our normal policy is to check all suspension components for wear and proceed with the alignment using the factory adjustments that are on the vehicle providing that no suspension components are worn out. In the case that somethings is worn out we would then call the customer with a quote to replace the parts. In this case nothing was worn, there are 3 angles that are normaly adjusted on a car . Caster , Camber , and Toll . These cannot be adjusted if adjustable parts are not fitted from the factory. All vehicles have toll adjustments, some do not have caster or camber adjustments . In this case if caster and camber need adjusted, there are parts that can be installed on the car to make them adjustable. In the case of this van they use a ball joint sleeve to make camber/caster adjustable, however they are very difficult to install so its a little expensive. So it is common practice for a shop to try to adjust what they can with the adjustments provided from the factory. Most of the time caster/camber is not a major tire wearing angle , so if we can adjust the toll good enough not to wear the tires and the vehicle drives good enough for customer satisfaction then we just roll with it unless the customer is not satisfied. Then we would quote the parts to correct the issue. Either way you don't know until you perform the alignment. So I suppose that we could have called the customer when we saw that the castor/camber was off and let them know that an alignment may or may not correct the issue. It's $25 for the inspection , $85 if we try the alignment , or $500 if we install the parts to make it adjustable. To which I imagine the customer would have replied , Just try the alignment. Now to the customers complaint of "WASTING AN ALIGNMENT ". Although we have every right to charge for another alignment once the proper parts are installed , it is our custom to give the second alignment free. This was explained to the customer, that we wasn't charging for the alignment, only the parts and labor for replacement. So welcome to the automotive world , you have to buy a $10,000 alignment machine , spend 30 minutes writing an explanation as to why you charged $90 Lol . Its kinda like your Doctor , you don't have the ability to fully understand why he has to do what he does to make you well , and he just doesn't have the time to teach you, so you need to find a dr that you can trust. Same thing with your automobiles , find you a shop that you can trust and quit with all the questions and bashing. And if you can't find one , then maybe you are the problem. Now as you can see in this very forum, we have well over 400 5 star reviews and very few negative. So you can decide who you want to listen to, but we gotta get back to our awesome , satisfied customers that have kept our doors open for over 25 years. Yall have a BLESSED DAY !!!
