Used the wrong oil on my brand new car on it's first oil change
I made the shop aware that the car was brand-new and that it was its first oil-change. I wasn't asked any questions about what oil was needed, etc. When it came time to pay, I noticed that synthetic oil had not been used, against what the dealer had recommended to me. Furthermore, I realized later (on checking the manual) that they did not even use the correct kind of non-synthetic oil (they used 5W-20 while manual recommends 5W-30 or 5W-40 when synthetic is not available). I don't know a lot about cars and so I trust a mechanic to know the right kind of oil for my car.
