Avoid this Klems' garbage place at all cost.
Be careful of these people and their hidden diagnostic cost. They are extremely rude and unprofessional. I would avoid this Klem' garbage place at all cost.

Two weeks ago, I brought my car in for a check engine light (the code is for Camshaft postion sensors.) After someone looked at my car, a guy named Tom called and told me they needed more time to diagnose and potentially fix my car because they might have to get into the engine. So they rescheduled and let me brought my car home. No one ever told or mentioned with me about the amount it would cost to diagnose this kind of problem.

Fast forward 2 weeks later, I brought my car in again today. After diagnosting, the second person named Craig told me it would cost me around $2200 to replace the chain and water pump. I simply told him that I didn't have that kind of money right now. I also asked him about the minimum amount of work needed to be done to fix my car and the check engine light. Craig then told me after talking to his machenic, he couldn't drop anything. So I told him I wanted to take my car home. Craig told me the cost of diagnostic is over $400. Then I said to Craig that I am not going to pay for that kind of money.

I told him "if they let me know beforehand it would cost me this much money to diagnose a problem, then I would make a different decision and decided not to come in the second time". We argued back and forth. Craig told me there was nothing he could do and handed the phone over to Tom.

Tom reminded me we spoke 2 weeks earlier and he had mentioned about "getting into the engine". He assumed that "I would know". I told him "I am a customer, not a mechanic." He told me "he would call the police on me for the unpaid balance and he doesn't want to deal with this shit". This is extremely rude and not acceptable by the way.

Knowing what exactly?

"Get into the engine" what does this actually mean? It could mean anything. $20 dollar or $500 or $5000? They have been doing this business for years so they must have an idea of how much it would cost. Why didn't they tell me beforehand?

If they didn't tell me beforehand how much a job would cost and they had the right to charge me whatever they want at the end (without my consent). Then I had the right to pay them whatever I wanted.

We eventually worked out a deal because I told Tom everyone had to make a living. When I came and pick my car up, Tom also insulted me against with things like "uncool person can get away with lots of things". "I don't want to deal with you anymore". There is also a young, tall, slim, wearing a skinny jean guy told me that they were listening on the phone and I was wrong. This is extremely insulting and unacceptable way to talk to a customer.

Speaking of uncool, perhaps they should be more honest and upfront with the customer about the fee they are charging. So when someone pushes back against their BS, they didn't have to make little insults and jabs against that customer. Like crying babies who throw tantrums after being caught doing something wrong.

Let say you needed something done at your house and there was a guy who came in. Let assumed he looked at everything and gave you a quote for $2200. You declined to let him do the job, but he charged you over $400 to look at your problem without telling you there was such a fee. Now you throw away $400 for nothing. How does it going to feel?
