Spoke with Sherisa. She said Stan was quoted a certain price. When they went to do the repair, they found something else had to be replaced also. He was then given the runaround. He had to speak with the owner before the cost was reduced.

Stan's vehicle was initially towed because it had stopped running. Upon initial checks, the vehicle had lost fuel to the engine. When testing, we found a faulty main relay and possibly the original fuel filter. After authorization by the customer, those pieces were replaced and the vehicle then gained adequate fuel delivery and started momentarily. With further testing to see why the vehicle would not continue running, it was revealed there was inadequate compression on #1 and #2 cylinders. On this discovery, internal engine repair was deemed necessary. Stan was unhappy with the need for further repairs. I intervened at this time to resolve the customer's issue, because the service writer does not have the authority to change previously agreed upon repairs. Due to the fact that costs for such required repairs are substantial, and the customer was unwilling to continue with the needed repairs, I made an effort to extend goodwill to the customer. I allowed the parts to be returned that he had originally agreed to purchase and have installed – and only charged him for the testing of the vehicle. He was not charged for the installation or removal of the returned parts.
