Proceed With Caution – My Experience Following a Routine Oil Change

I brought my 2017 Chevrolet Cruze to Pioneer Auto Care LLC for a routine oil change and tire rotation on June 8, 2026.

Shortly after leaving the shop, my vehicle began shaking while driving. Later that day, the Stabilitrak warning light came on and the vehicle entered reduced-power mode. When I arrived home, I noticed a ticking noise coming from under the hood and recorded a video of it.

The following morning, I discovered a significant amount of oil underneath my vehicle and across my driveway. The vehicle was unsafe to drive and had to be towed.

Pioneer advised me that the oil pan needed to be replaced and initially quoted approximately $598, which later became approximately $530. Because the symptoms appeared immediately after the oil change, I sought an independent second opinion before authorizing repairs.

The independent repair facility documented an oil leak, rough engine operation, a new drain plug in the oil pan, and recommended further major repairs. I am currently working through the matter and have maintained photographs, videos, inspection reports, repair records, and other documentation.

I encourage customers to document the condition of their vehicle before and after service, request written estimates, and keep copies of all repair records.
