The best in Tyler, Tx.
I bought a tank of gas for my daughter's car in South Tyler. In less than 2 miles, the car died and then would not start. I was pretty sure the gas was the culprit. I typically work on my own vehicles, but I didn't have the time, and really didn't feel like doing this messy task, anyway. Besides, I planned to get reimbursed by the gas station owner. (I eventually did.) I called a nearby shop that has a decent reputation in Tyler, and that shop said they would not be able to work on this vehicle for some time. It was a Saturday morning, after all. He recommended S&J. I called and Shawn answered the phone. He told me "Bring it over." So, the tow truck brought it to S&J around noon, and my wife brought me home. Several hours later, Shawn called and said, "I don't know what is in your gas tank, but it is not gas." (I found out later that the station had a leak in the tank that was allowing water in.) Shawn then said, "You should be able to pick it up tomorrow afternoon!" I was beyond happy that S&J jumped right on this car despite a parking lot full of cars. Long story short, the contaminated gas did a number on the fuel system. Sunday afternoon, my daughter and I went to retrieve her car from S&J. They charged a very reasonable fee for the work done. The car ran a short time before the check engine light began to blink. We brought it back, and they cleaned the injectors. Shawn did not charge a dime for it. We left the shop, and the same thing happened again...it ran fine for a few minutes then started running rough and the check engine light began blinking. Shawn immediately replaced the spark plugs and refused money for the extra work done. I was thoroughly impressed with every aspect of this repair, especially my interactions with Shawn. I didn't meet anyone else except Shawn. He answered every question I had as if he designed and built the car. He is a knowledgeable professional, and he must have a shop full mechanics that know what they are doing because I would have never expected an emergency vehicle repair of this type to have been completed at such a fair price in a little over 24 hours. ON A WEEKEND!
If you take your vehicle to any other place in this area, I wish you well. But don't be surprised if it costs too much, takes too long, or they "find" more things that "need to be fixed."
If you take your vehicle to S&J, you are in very capable hands, and you don't need to worry about any of those things happening.
