Previously, I had a cheap $26 cover that lasted me a solid 2.5 years in the LA heat before failing. Hoping to buy some long-term peace of mind, I decided to splurge and spend $100 on Seal Skin’s top-tier "Supreme" cover because they advertised a 10-year / lifetime warranty. I thought the extra money would mean a durable product. I was completely wrong.Here is the actual timeline of my experience:
- August 2025: Purchased the original $100 Supreme cover.
- November 2025: Just 3 months later, it had already failed and completely fell apart.
- August 2026: The replacement cover they sent me just failed again.
Two of their highest-end covers disintegrated into trash in a single 12-month period. A $26 generic cover outlasted this "premium" brand by years.
Why their "Lifetime Warranty" is a scam:When you buy this cover, you think you are protected forever. In reality, Seal Skin charges a flat $30 "shipping and processing fee" for every warranty claim. Paying $30 to replace a defective $100 item that breaks every few months is completely ridiculous. Worse yet, their fine print states the lifetime warranty is "one-and-done." They only replace the cover ONCE per original purchase.
They are essentially selling disposable paper covers wrapped in a predatory warranty model. They take your money upfront, lock you out of future replacements, and charge you 33% of the product's value just to ship you more defective inventory. Save your $100 and buy from a legitimate, heavy-duty brand that actually builds covers to survive the sun.
I am not going to pay $30 to have a cover that is going to break down again so quickly, and will go back to my $26 2 year cover.
