Bought vehicle guaranteed as great shape & INSPECTABLE. NOT SO!
Bought a 2007 Rav4 from Waweco. Luke Mattern (owner & salesman) assured me in great shape & just inspected. They put a sticker on it.
It will NOT pass any where else! Luke did repair the windshield washer and a brake line that was slit. When I took it elsewhere, I was told it needs a serpentine belt. Understandable. (?) But when I went to have the belt replaced, it also came back with a $9000.00 estimate to keep it running. It needs Head gasket, valve cover gasket, transmission pan gasket, 3 axle seals, exhaust system & manifold, 2 of the 4 brand new tires, after 2000 miles, are now being flagged as "yellow" - keep eye on. Brakes & rotors, linkage, and the transmission is slipping.
Upon contacting Luke, he offered to try to help. He wanted to do right by me. When I showed up for the appointment, he didn't want to do right by me. He wanted me to pull my review and give him a 5⭐ review. If I didn't give him that, he would not help. I had already edited it to let people know he was going to try to be decent & do the right thing... stand behind his word. His word is as useless as his warrantees. When I stated the work hadn't been done yet, he then refused to do anything. Sounds kinda like blackmail. I guess I know how he got all those 5⭐ reviews. What he was intending on doing "to make things right" was out of the $9000 estimate, the repair he was going to do was about $100-$150. He would do nothing about the exhaust, even though it prevents it from being inspected. Wasn't I told it had just passed at Waweko? It won't pass anywhere else. I now have a $9000 lawn ornament, and no way to be able to get another vehicle. I can't afford the repairs on this one. I am elderly, disabled, and on a fixed income. He took every penny I had. He even charged me almost $2000 OVER book value! His excuse... the pandemic. You can't go by blue book anymore. He KNEW the condition of the vehicle. Yeah, I was a sucker. But at least I'm not a liar, crook, or blackmailer. Avoid WAWECO at all costs. Otherwise, it WILL cost you.
