I've never felt this way about a car before
2012 QX-56 makes me feel like no other car I've ever owned.
Her name is Ellie, short for Eleanor, my big grey elephant of a car. But she has ended up being called The Beast - because she is deceptively quick and nimble for her size allowing escape in any situation. Her automatic safety system thing-y is like Star Trek to a late 40-something yr old driver. Ok 50 - but we were supposed to be flying in these things by now so...
The comfort level in this vehicle cannot be described with mere words - like driving around in your living room.
She does have a dark side. She gets SUPER crappy gas mileage. I mainly drive a 10 mile radius around my home so I don't fill up the 22 gallon gas tank often - and a highway road trip can get her an extra mpg or two. But, unfortunately for an owner who gives a shit about the earth, .4 mpg is the average road trip mpg bounce in this girl (that's POINT 4 mpg - .4 not four). She seems to have maxed out at 14.7 regardless of how much I've hyper-miled. Avg is 13.4.
But don't let her dark side turn you off. If I ever have to buy another car (she's going to 500k miles I just know it!) it will be a Tesla - cuz they're awesome and it's like a hundred Hail Mary's after the sin of gas guzzling.
