A Porsche in a Volkswagen body

A very sophisticated giant killer. GT-3 owners are impressed with this car. - APR and the aftermarket people make this a scary fast car. And, it has all the sophisticated technology and comforts to boot

Adult Hot Hatch

Besides some small creaks and groans from interior pieces this car has been problem free. The factory clutch is borderline unacceptable combined with sloppy motor mounts, it is noisy and vague and is the only disappointment mechanically that I have with the car.

Unbelievable car! Most solidly built car I've ever owned. Entirely too much fun to drive! Could be a risk to my drivers license.

The performance of this car is unbelievable! Acceleration, cornering, build quality, everything! The car is so solid that it feels that it was carved out of a single block of metal. There are no buzzes, rattles, squeaks, etc. I have the manual transmission and love it. The interior is surprisingly spacious, including excellent headroom front and back. Since it looks pretty much like all the other Golfs on the road it is stealthy in traffic.

Wow, what a fun, yet practical car!

I did a LOT of research on the Golf R and it's nearest competition and the reviews were all extremely favorable (though it is a bit pricey). I test drove the GTI and was impressed, but the Golf R takes it to a much higher level. The car is FAST and corners well. I bought it with a manual transmission which I think makes it more fun to drive. The car is comfortable to ride in and the fit and finish is superb. It is also a very practical car with ample room for passengers and cargo. I like that the exterior appearance is more subtle than the competition so you can blend in with the traffic and not be a ticket magnet. I am very tall and headroom was not a problem.

I was on a waiting list for several months. I love this car. Best car I have owned.

fun, fast

really a great all around car, all wheel drive, comfortable, outstanding build quality, fast and reasonably economical. And sharp looking. Not a dork mobile.
