Lakewood Ford

In June 2003, My wife bought a 2003 FORD Focus LX 2.0 SOHC crar from Mallon Ford (Forerunner to Lakewood Ford). Our problems with the 2003 Focus LX were minor and few until earlier this year. In March, my wife called me from Kent,WA and said, "Doug, my car is making a lot of noise and dies when I start it. I can't keep it running." So, I drove the 26 miles to her work place and started the car. It was clanking like someone had dropped a handful of bolts in the engine. So, I told her to drive the Caravan SXT back to Tacoma and I would drive the Focus. The engine missfired, sputtered and attempted to quit several times but made it back to Tacoma. I parked the Focus in our driveway and called my brother in Kentucky (Mike's Auto service and repair). He told me to check the plugs and if the tips were bent or broken, the Valve Seats had dropped out and were beating up the engine from inside. I pulled the plugs and saw that #3 & 4 plug tips were gone. I pulled #1 and 2 to find that #2 was beaten up but still intact. So the Valve seats on #2,3 &4 had dropped out. I asked a mechanic friend of mine to remove the cylinder head. He did and I photorgaphed the Cylinder Head and the Piston Tops. Eventually I decided to replace the entire engine and stopped by Lakewood Ford to speak with Frank (service Manager) to set up the repair. In May, Frank called me and told me to get the car over there and that they would start work on it. My entire experience with FRANK and Lakewood Ford was excellent because when decent people are involved, NO surprises erupt. Yeah, I knew it would be expensive but I wanted the job done right and in talking to Frank, I knew that it would not be any other way. I also think that everyone I asked for assistance, from Kathleen Killan, Boyd Hamilton and the front desk person were professionals who did not beat around the bush. They listened then acted to get what I wanted done, completed quickly and as inexpensive as they could possibly make it. That is what I call "Making Things Happen". Larry the cable guy has a great motto "GITTER DONE RIGHT" and Those I dealth with at Lakewood Ford did exactly that. What else can I say? As Wolfgang Amadaeus Mozart once said when asked why he never rewrote his music, "Perfection needs no change". That is how I viewed the pros I dealth with at Lakewood Ford.
