Leaking Oil After Routine Oil Change
Routine oil and filter change on my 2005 Toyota 4Runner. I supplied Mobil 1 synthetic oil, filter, and new OEM oil plug gasket. Upon leaving the next morning for work I noticed an 8" wet oil leak on my driveway. Vehicle has had zero oil leaks to date. Took a couple days before I could return to the shop to check leak. Found the oil plug needed tightening and also notified me that the oil was 1/2 quart low - a mere 3 days after oil change. Next morning found oil still leaking from oil drain plug - not as much as before but still leaking. I finally ended up torquing the drain plug to factory specifications - problem solved.

I've had oil changes here previously with no problems. Not sure if this time was new employee or simply not using a torque wrench to tighten the plug to factory specs. Customers shouldn't have to remind them to do this, but apparently, you do.
