First impression: no-nonsense straight shooters
We just moved into Clovis, and a dead battery forced me to determine where we were going to get auto repair done. I arbitrarily picked Gateway from the usual social media sources and made an appointment two days out to get the charging system examined. When I got there, they were somewhat busy and crowded. The obviously put more money into their tools and equipment than into a space prime location or a large waiting room. This is not necessarily a bad thing from my perspective. They checked the charging system, doing it good (I knew upfront that was ~ $60). The waited briefly for me to finish a cell phone conversation (standing on their parking lot as a pandemic measure), and proposed to clean the negative post replace the battery with a 5-yr warranty for approximately $245 including charges already incurred. I said yes, and they finished within 30 minutes. I wondered as I was driving away why I put a top-price battery in a car with 120k miles. However, I won’t fault them for proposing it because we might have that car for the life of the warranty, the battery should keep us out of trouble for a while. And if I were a true penny-pincher then I wouldn’t have bothered to check the charging system and I would have gotten a cheap battery, got my own hands dirty, and spend my time instead of my money (would have taken me longer then it took them).
