Very Disappointed
First off, I have bought numerous cars from the Gerald Auto Group with ZERO (0) issues, up to buying a used Hyundai. I have been driving new and used cars since 1988. All different types of manufactures and I even worked at a Pontiac dealership back in 1993. So I know how these places work, or at least supposed to work. Here is my issue with Hyundai.

First we scheduled time (over a month ago) because that is how "back up" they said they were to do an oil change and tire rotation. We brought in our 2014 Hyundai Sonata to the dealership to keep up with the maintenance along with my sons 2018 Subaru Impreza next door to the Subaru dealer (made the appointment 3 days prior) and our 2019 Ford Escape again across from Hyundai all in North Aurora. We got 2 of our cars back all as intended, work done and in working order and they were VERY communicative to us. Calling and texting, even emailing us the status on these cars. They are always like this. So I know the system they use works! You just have to "USE" it.

The Hyundai dealer:
No status calls (only one text about "recommended service") and when we also stated we needed tires when scheduling the appointment, you would think that a month was good enough to order the tires needed. So after paying for the oil change and tire rotation, then ordering the tires, we were planning on taking the car in the following Monday (3 days later). Here is the fun part. When my daughter drove it off the lot onto Hansen Blvd, the car turned off and all the lights on the instrument panel were on. I followed her in another car and told her to take that one home incase there was a problem with this Hyundai.

So she did and the Hyundai turned off 2 other time for me before even hitting the main road (Orchard) Thank God! I did a U turn and drove it right back to the dealership where I stated the issue and the tech verified. So, what level service do you think this dealership gives when they keep your car for the weekend (I know techs do not work these days), but all day Monday without any call or communication feed unless I called for a status? None! I was not until I called sales to talk to the GM and then I get a text from the same number you would about (recommended services) stating "Your 14 sonata needs an engine, I have submitted the prior approval with Hyundai and they have approved the engine. I have it on order. As right I do not any rental vehicles." Yes written as is.

So It was working fine until we dropped it off to the dealership, busted while there and now you state you do not have any loaners you can give? Sorry not buying it. Again I worked at a dealership in Naperville back in the day and the level of service they gave was "Oh you are out for awhile, here is a loaner!" And if there were no loaners, they gave out used or even pulled a new car off the lot for one. THAT is service. I was told that 10 other people are waiting for engines as well.

I was told to go through enterprise and yes, we all know that Hyundai's $35.00 a day up to 10 days will not cut it, seeing rentals are WAY more than this now. This is a big job and they do not even know how long the repair will take. So what and how am I getting to work now?

Whatever people want to think about this review they can, this is the 2nd time we brought our car in and they kept it for longer than needed. I am very upset and right now, will not buy a Hyundai after seeing most people are having engine issues, but even if this gets fixed, the service writer of this dealership is not willing to even step it up and fight for something like this to help get you into a car. Heck, even offer to pay the whole rental bill. CarMax even sets that up with the rental company and all you need to do is go in and get the car at CarMax.

I am beyond words here for Gerald of North Aurora. I need Doug Gerald's personal number to call him about this. This dealership is "Oh well, too bad for you" when it comes to getting you covered completely. At least that is how our experiences have been with Gerald Hyundai of North Aurora. NOT the whole Gerald group.
