My 55 year old friend was passing town driving by herself from new mexico to michigan to see her husband due to a family emergency
Her 25 yéar old van over heated and she stopped in at this establishment as there was nowhere else to go.
It turns out she needed a new thermostat and the mechanic charged her $700 to install it.
Thinking there was some mistake, I called him and asked how it could cost so much. A thermostat should be about $25 , coolant about $30. a hose for about $30. and he was charging $125. for diagnostics. How could a new thermostat cost $700 to install?
He told me he was charging $300. for "expedited service".
I explained to him that the lady works full time at walmart and that she survives hand to mouth living in the van with her 3 Chihuahuas. He said the best he could do was $685.
I really don't know how this guy sleeps at night.
