Long story...
My wife and I were headed home from vacation. We live in Ohio, and was traveling by Cheyenne. The engine in our 2004 Dodge Ram, “blew up”... we had to be towed in. The tow truck driver from Big Als, told us there was two shops he would recommend. The first one was not able to take it. We then went to Kustom, and spoke with Jason. He was able to take the truck. And we were able to park our Camper in the Lot next door till we could get the truck fixed and recover the camper. I ordered an engine from Frazier engines, because I had dealt with them before. The crew there at Kustom got the engine, and did the necessary swapping of parts, that had to be done. All communications were by way of telephone, from Ohio to Wyoming. Due to issues out of anyone’s control, it took about 6 weeks for us to get back out to Wyoming to recover the truck and camper. The truck was repaired and running great, however there was another issue, that was not at fault of the Kustom shop. Some thieves had stolen my Battery to the camper, and had stolen some tools out of my truck... the truck and camper were parked in a lot across the street from the shop. We were informed, at time of drop off, that the shop could not be held liable for what happened at the lot, because it was not a secure location. So we understood that.
The truck did start leaking oil, after about 450 miles after the new engine was installed. At first, it was thought the mail seal was bad, then it was found out, that 5he oil pan was what was leaking. Jason informed me of this, and the problem was rectified. I also had to get a new Alternator, after about 750 miles after the engine installed, the Alternator was about 8 yrs old, and was from a low quality parts dealer, (autozone), so that problem is par for course, when dealing with electronic components from that auto parts dealer.
All said and done, the job was done, we’re are happy to finally have our truck and camper back home in Ohio. It took some time, but we understood gong into the ordeal, that it would take time, because of the distance and logistics with us living in Ohio, and the shop being in Wyoming.
The only reason I can not recommend this shop to a friend is because we live in Ohio, and Kustom illusion is in Wyoming... the experience was not desirable, but that was due to Elements, out of anyone’s control. Jason and the staff are a great bunch of guys, customer service was top notch, the only complaint I do have is, the oil leak was because someone didn’t take time to make sure the oil pan was properly sealed before reinstalling it back on the new engine. Big deal....? Not really. Oh and Bailey is a great receptionist!! Love that Dog!!
