Did not repair problem reported under warranty 4x.
11/17/2018 We purchased a 2012 Chevy Silverado from Mile High Car Company in Colorado Springs. The truck had a 3-month, 3,000-mile warranty.

About a week after purchase, the truck made a knocking sound and the traction sensor and check engine lights came on. Five minutes later, everything was fine and the truck was running well.

01/21/2019 This happened again, I went to speak to the dealer and set an appointment.

01/23/2019 I took the truck back to the dealer under warranty. The dealer said there was a #4-cylinder misfire. Their fix was to replace the spark plugs and wires.

A week later, the knocking sound happened again and the traction and check engine lights came on as they had before.

02/22/2019 I took the truck back to the dealership. They said the #4 coil should be replaced. They said they would not have time before a weekend trip we had scheduled, so I replaced it myself. The coil was $100. While driving out of town, the truck failed again - same symptoms. It happened again while on our trip three days later.

I took the truck into Auto Zone to have the check engine light code checked. It said #4-cylinder misfire.
03/01/2019 I took the truck into the dealer. They now said the problem is a throttle body and sensor. They did not mention a #4-cylinder misfire. They wanted me to pay for this repair since the warranty had passed. After a discussion of this being the same issue from within the warranty period (not fixed), they put a new throttle body on it and did not charge me. They said this was it.

03/06/2019 The knocking sound returned. The traction control and check engine lights came on. This time, it did not go away. The dealer said it is probably a lifter problem and the truck is out of warranty. They said even if I paid them to fix it, they would not do the repair. They said they were done.
We took it to another mechanic. He knew from the description of symptoms that the problem was lifters. He ran a diagnostic to verify this for $316.

We wanted another opinion. We had it towed to another mechanic to ensure no damage. They opened up the truck. All 16 lifters needed to be replaced. All valves needed to be replaced. The cost for this is $3,150.

03/18/2019 Picked up the truck from the mechanic. He said the oil was not clean and looked like it had not been changed in 10,000 miles. Current mileage: 106,490. Mileage at time of purchase: 102,164. So, we’ve driven it 4,326. We incorrectly assumed that the truck had been maintenanced prior to sale.

This has been frustrating, time-consuming, has interfered with my ability to work as my truck is necessary, and obviously expensive. Mile High Car Company failed to diagnose the truck problem while it was still under warranty when it was first brought to their attention and after several visits to request repair. Financial hardship and loss of income due to inability to work because I was not able to have transportation to my job commitments. This is my work vehicle and after having two mechanics look at it, I find that the car was not even properly maintained prior to being sold to us.

A reasonable person judging this complaint, this potential court case, would consider that ’we’, the plaintiffs, bought this truck in good faith; in good faith we used the warranty program asking for a repair; in good faith we trusted Mile High Car Company’s mechanical troubleshooting abilities, and, in good faith, we trusted the integrity of your management. We think that a reasonable person reviewing our actions would agree that we did everything expected.

The breach to the warranty is their responsibility and we believe that their failure to diagnose the problem and fix the truck should entitle us to repayment for the financial hardship and loss of income.
