I took my car in to get the shock absorbers fixed, thinking it would be a simple repair. Big mistake. Somehow, a job that should’ve cost a reasonable amount turned into a bill so high I’m pretty sure it rivaled the national debt. I walked in with a car that bounced a little and walked out feeling like my bank account had been hit by a meteor.
The pricing made absolutely no sense. Every time I asked about the cost, there seemed to be another mysterious fee added on—labor, parts, extra labor, “just because” labor… at one point I expected them to charge me for breathing the air in the waiting room. By the time I saw the final total, I half expected a finance minister to show up and offer me a bailout plan.
Customer service didn’t make things better either. Instead of explaining the charges clearly, I got vague answers and a shrug, like this was totally normal and everyone casually spends the price of a small country’s GDP on shock absorbers.
If you enjoy financial ruin, dramatic life choices, and questioning every decision you’ve ever made, this is the place for you. If not, you might want to shop around unless you’re ready to refinance your future just to stop your car from bouncing.
