Replace alternator
I was charged $1300 to replace an alternator on my Toyota Avalon. The charge for the alternator itself was $450. I could have purchased it myself for $200. This is an unacceptable markup. The charge for replacement was $650 (3.5) hours. This is excessive. This could have been done in 1 hour or less. I don’t mind paying reasonable amounts for good service but this was excessive.

Again, We qouted you the job, emailed you the job quote, you agreed to the job with a signed contract. After the job was complete you wanted a new price. The job labor was correct. The part markup was correct. The price you found on the internet was slightly below wholesale prices. We are retail. I have to warranty the part and labor and pay State and federal taxes to do the work. If you had a problem you shouldn't wait until the job is done. You could have declined the quote and taken your car.
