While speaking to Andy I mentioned some other issues like headlight and tail light which had been diagnosed during a previous visit.
He said they would not even go into that until we figured out what was keeping it from running correctly.
That's a very good idea and I appreciate that.
I got a call from Andy saying that the spark plugs didn't do anything and the bill was $652. The bill consisted of spark plugs and the labor time to put them on, a pre-inspection check for $77.50 which I got no paperwork from. And the rest of that was Diagnostics.
You all knew I was going to finance this through SNAP. I was approved for $2,400.
I thought that this was steep. I've decided from now on not to do business with any shop that won't take the diagnostic fee off if they do the work.
Since Andy had said they would not do any unnecessary work until we figured out what was going on with the motor I thought that the pre-inspection check should not have been done. I called to speak with him about this and I asked him for the paperwork that corresponds with that pre-inspection check. He replied that they got halfway through it and stopped but he said he could not provide any specifics on paper. He said that he had taken half off of the inspection check which amount to $77.50
If he couldn't provide specifics on paper I feel that I should have been reimbursed for that when I inquired.
I realized that fraud is increasingly more common and that shops have taken a hit, but in my case, I feel like I could have been treated more fairly. Andy offered to do more diagnostic work as I was approved up to $2,400.
