We noticed for a few days that our car was lacking its normal power. We have a powertrain warranty bu
t have to drive about 40 miles to the dealership to get it looked at. This wasn't an option as the car could barely hit 50 on the freeway without the turbo, so we took it to Albert's. We explained the situation and the warranty and Albert said that he would take a look at it.
The shop was extremely busy and it took a couple of days until they had a chance to look at it. They found a hole in the vacuum hose that closes the waste gate which was preventing the turbo from kicking in. Since the replacement of the whole assembly is likely covered under warranty, Albert spliced in a piece of tubing to get the turbo operational again as a temporary patch. When we went to the garage to pick our car up, Amy told us that all we owed was the diagnostic fee which was $165. Albert didn't want to charge us for his repair as it was fairly simple. They easily could have recommended a full repair at Albert's which would have been nearly $1,000 or more but instead did a simple fix that will keep us running until we can get it fixed under warranty.
